I have a new dell inspiron 14 5xxx with tumbleweed. I can not play any sound with any application.
Trying a live ubuntu session sound is working so I guess no hardware or bios problem.
Alsa script on live ubuntu gives

while on tumbleweed I have

I appreciate any help in finding the cause of this problem.

Is it found in YaST > Hardware > Sound?
And when yes, can you configure it there?
And when yes, can you play a test sound there?
I assume all things that go first before using any application.
Check PulseAudio profile settings perhaps. Launch ‘pavucontrol’ to do that in a desktop environment. (You may need to install it first.)

Yes, there is a record for an intel card saying that it is not configured.
And when yes, can you configure it there?
After getting the automatic configuration done I press OK and the window suddenly closes. Reopening and we are back to not configured state.
And when yes, can you play a test sound there?
Volume and test sound options do nothing.
Check PulseAudio profile settings perhaps. Launch ‘pavucontrol’ to do that in a desktop environment. (You may need to install it first.)
pavucontrol displays 3 HDMI output and a speaker+headphones one. It does not react for any changes.
pacmd output:
Comet Lake needs some tinkering:
Then I will wait for the kernel patches. Thanks for everyone.
