Hi all
Odd problem - I’m running KDE 4.4 on openSUSE 11.1 64-bit. I am getting no sound. I have tried testing in YaST and get nothing. If I try the KDE settings, nothing comes up - I click on it and the settings window closes. KMix is showing volume as being 100%.
When I run XP under VirtualBox, I get sound…
Any hints/tips?
KDE-4.4 in 11.1 ? Sorry, thats too cutting edge for me. I won’t help something that cutting edge as the problem could come from a cutting edge KDE or it coud come from elsewhere.
IMHO with openSUSE-11.1 one is better sticking with KDE-4.3.5, in the knowedge that the openSUSE-11.2 “official fixes” for KDE-4.3.5 also get migrated to the stable (but “unofficial KDE stable directory” ) for openSUSE-11.1. And hence problems with sound due to KDE4 should not occur.
My recommendation, which you probably do not want to follow, is to roll back completely to KDE-4.3.5.
OK, thanks anyway. I switched to 4.4 as I got totally fed up with NotworkManager …er… not working.
I’d rather have internet than sound. It might get better on its own!
Check your sound device priority in the KDE multimedia / phonon configuration.
I have 4.4.x series /w X-Fi working with no issues whatsoever. It’s stable as rock.
