I installed openSUSE 11.1 on my laptop a few days ago and can’t get any sound. I’ve gone through so many troubleshooting processes, I don’t even know what error messages to provide.
Let me know what I need to post that will be helpful in solving the problem.
When you try to play some sound (for example in amarok), do you get an error message that no sound device is found, or it looks like it’s playing, but no sound comes out ?
Yep, this is probably the #1 question on this forum. You will find a lot of valuable advice digging in the archived messages. Use the ‘search’ function and have a special look for posts from ‘oldcpu’. If this does not help please post the relevant information regarding your laptop and installed packages (for an example what info is needed see Intel sound fails in openSUSE 11.1 RC1 - openSUSE Forums)
Hi freddybear, … I was away on vacation for over a week, and I am still going through old threads.
As noted, we need more information.
