Hi,
after a recent update of opensuse 11.1 I got some issues with my sound. Both amarok and kaffeine didn’t played sound anymore, till I changed the settings of the xine-engine from autodetect to alsa plugin. Now these two work fluently. But when I try to play youtube movies ore suchlike in opera, i don’t hear anything. Guess i also have to change something in the flash-settings, but don’t know how to.
Anyone a solution?
Some things to try:
-
Check your multimedia problem in ten steps - Page 9 - openSUSE Forums
-
In Desktop Settings > Sound, make sure pulse audio is not the preferred output device.
Is your firefox/opera plugin mplayer or vlc?
Cheers
Steve
Hi,
Could you explain more about the following:
- In Desktop Settings > Sound, make sure pulse audio is not the preferred output device.
Is your firefox/opera plugin mplayer or vlc?
I don’t know how to look up for this (I’m no experienced linux user, you know)
thx
Mplayer or Vlc Plugins for FFox have nothing to do with flash. They are for things like .wmv playback
Some people find pulse audio problematic, my laptop use it without issue though.
There is an audio troubleshooter here: SDB:AudioTroubleshooting - openSUSE
I am having a similar problem on a fresh Install of openSuSe 11.1. with KDE 3.5
“YouTube” flash audio worked before the latest Mozilla update was applied. I have “reinstalled Flashplayer 10” from Yast2 software management. All other sound is working. I can play multimedia files from Mplayer/smplayer and audio works.

Uninstalled Flash Player and libflashsupport with yast2 software management

reinstalled Flash Player with Yast2 Software management
Did not install the libflashsupport.
YouTube audio plays with Mozilla.
Flash Player plays local flash files.
