No Slideshow for screen locking in 15.5?

When trying to configure screen locking in:

System Settings → Workspace Behaviour → Screen Locking → Appearance Configure…

the drop-down for “Wallpaper type” does not work. Looks like a bug to me - it worked in 15.4 but not Leap 15.5. As a result, I can only use the static pictures offered - but I want a slideshow! It show work the same way as the menu under “Configure Desktop and Wallpaper”.

Any ideas?

Works here with Leap 15.5. Did you already perform the basic checks for this case: tested with a new user profile?

the drop-down for “Wallpaper type” does not work

Means what?

Here (in German):

Have you added a directory with pictures on the left?

the drop-down for “Wallpaper type” does not work

Means what?

It means that in contrast to what you are seeing, my drop-down box to the right of “Wallpaper type” (your Hintergrundbild-Typ) had no text. Clicking on the down arrow had no effect other than a black cloudy shadow appearing below where the drop-down should have been.

But here is the surprising thing: after a reboot, and no other relevant changes, it now works as it should! No idea where the glitch came from, or why, or whether anyone else has seen it or will ever see it.

I can now have a slideshow again when the screen is locked - I love seeing random pictures from my past, including on occasion me at the ripe age of 14 months sitting under a Christmas tree and looking at a picture book.

You have had a black box if you open your Wallpaper-Type?

I get black boxes if my system is running over 24 h, this is a nouveau/Nvidea Problem

It certainly hadn’t run for 24 hrs. It was not exactly a black box, just a sort of shadow. But my machine definitely has video problems of some sort (black screens at random intervals with no recourse other than hard poweroff/restart), but I didn’t want to elaborate here - would be off topic!

Run this to get english names:

LANG=C systemsettings5

It was a right click on the desktop…
Nothing in systemsettings5.

@sviatko, obviously @sauerland is running a German desktop. Mine is in English, but that didn’t matter. In any case, I found it interesting to see how the familiar English terms translate into modern German - I left Germany 45 years ago, when even a common computing term like Festplatte had no other meaning than that of a festive dish for a special occasion.

Happy Christmas and enjoy your Festplatten! Yours, Nordbaden
