I can confirm that issue on a desktop computer running gnome livecd (ML5).
Both buttons are “grayed out” and cannot be selected.
Also, “power management preferences” seems lacking some tabs/options :-?

Ctrl+Alt+F1
shutdown -h now
to shut the machine off or just
reboot
will err…
I will leave that up to the reader to guess.
And not meaning to be appear patronising or funny here but if you do not
know the above commands are you sure you should be running a beta OS?

Why do you think “giorsat” has any problem to halt/shutdown/restart the
machine? It clearly states that he “have to swith to console to switch off
the computer”
Anyway, I think we both are facing the same gnome bug here. There are some
power management options not available and screensaver is not present under
gnome control panel :-/

My bad,
I read it wrong that time.
This is what I saw:

one word one letter and a comma and it all makes it completely different but
still no excuse.
Apologies to the OP, getting late here will go stand in corner till bed

Confirmed as one of “most annoying bugs” for ML5:
http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs:Most_Annoying_Bugs_11.2_dev
- Reboot/Shutdown not possible from GNOME. Fix will be in GNOME:Factory (and
Factory) very shortly.
