Hello everybody,
fresh Leap, Skanlite. I miss the settings menu. Does anyone know, if it is intended that there is no more?
This would be inconvenient.
Thanks for reply.

If you mean the skanlite for scanning
It has the settings menu in Leap 2.1 here.
Hello conram,
I don’t know what you mean.

Where the scan button is there used to be the settings menu.
Yes you are missing the settings.
Mine in english at the bottom has this buttons (menu)
Preview Scan

Skanlite is just a frontend.
Check that you have ksaneplugin installed.
And try to run “kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental” as user, maybe just the plugin cache is outdated.
Mine here ksaneplugin is not installed though
when I installed Leap 42.1 I added xsane on
my installation package because that is what I frequently use.
Now I have installed both xsane like conram and like wolfi323 said ksaneplugin (incl. running kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental).
Unfortunately the same result: no settings menu. Curious that conram has the settings menu.
I have a Brother MFC-7360N and the installation I have used sins 13.1 with drivers DL from Brother Solution center:
Install, -brscan4-0.4.2-1.x86_64.rpm
-mfc7360nlpr-2.1.0-1.i386.rpm
-cupswrapperMFC7360N-2.0.4-2.i386.rpm
Then open a konsole and run:
-“brsaneconfig4 -a name=SCANNER model=MFC-7360N ip=192.168.0.12” That IP is on my Lan configured in the MFC-7360N.
Confirm network scanner entry:
“-brsaneconfig4 -q | grep SCANNER”
0 SCANNER “MFC-7360N” I:192.168.0.12
Works like a dream in Leap42.1, both Scanlite/xsane

Looks the same to mine and I am using a brother printer/scanner also (MFC-5890CN)
Hm.
Does it work on a fresh user account?
You can create one (and delete it again afterwards) in YaST->Security and Users->User and Group Management.
Testuser account created. Here It works!lol! Seems xsane has to be installed first. But how I fix it on my current account. Is there a profile folder for Skanlite which I have to delete?
Many thanks
Ok, that tells that it’s not an installation problem…
how I fix it on my current account. Is there a profile folder for Skanlite which I have to delete?
Not that I am aware of.
But try to delete ~/.kde4/share/config/Skanliterc (yes, it is an upper case ‘S’ in this case… ).
In my folder config I can’t find Skanliterc
Ok, then try to delete ~/.sane/.
But I’m not sure if that could be the reason…
Hi wolfi323,
deleting .sane I have already tried. But it did not solved it too.
But now I have solved it!
I always start Skanlite via link from the folder view. Now I started it
from K menu, and Skanlite has the settings menu included like the testuser account.
Could this be the reason for the missing menu, a link. Perhaps I have set the link before I have configured the scanner.
Or is it the missing installation of xsane in combination with this “old” link?
Thanks wolfi and everybody for helping me!! I am glad that this forum exists, competent people, quick help.
TBH, I am not sure.
But as the “wrong” link is in your folder view, try to delete it and add it again.
Although, I suppose you came to the same conclusion yourself already…
For an indepth answer I would need to see your old link, i.e. the xxx.desktop file from your ~/Desktop/ (or whatever) folder.
Thanks wolfi and everybody for helping me!! I am glad that this forum exists, competent people, quick help.
Well, we do try to help.
It doesn’t work out every time, and sometimes it may take a bit longer to get an answer, but yeah, there are a lot of competent people hanging around here… (and I am not speaking of myself with this… )
And at this point I really like to thank all others that try to help people here!
You are right.
(and I am not speaking of myself with this…
)
I am sure you could.
