"no screens found" when no monitor is connectted

I try to start my OpenSUSE 11 with no monitor connected. There is a “Fatal server error: no screens found” when I re-connect the monitor to it.

I want my host to be just a server with no monitor connected. The X server works fine when the monitor is connected. I need X server started when my host starts because I want to access the host with xdmcp.

Is there any way to forbid X server to check a monitor? Can I specify one screen mode when X server starts?

Thanks

These links seem to suggest that headless operation can be achieved if vesa driver is used:

Debian User Forums :: View topic - xorg withut connected display?

Give that a crack.

Thank you very much for your information. I have done it successfully.
