No root password

Hello,
I have installed opensuse 10.
But during installation, i was not asked to give a root password.
Now, i don’t know how to log as root, and so can i do quite nothing (for example, i can’t configure my wlan connection)…
Has anybody a solution ?
Thank you, and sorry, i don’t speak english very well

Hey, in openSUSE 11 the default root password is the same as for your first user, unless you change that setting. I think it was different back in the days of openSUSE 10.x but it’s worth a try. As you were not asked for a root password, are you shure you’re not running 11.0? You can “cat /etc/SuSE-release” to see which version you are running. Good luck.

Thanks for your help.
You’re right : I installed OpenSuse 11.0 !!!rotfl!
I use to run Mandriva linux , and in this distro the root password is asked during installation.
Now i’m able to go back to opensuse and try to manage a web connection .

Danke !

When you created your own user account, there was a check box right below there to use the same password for root. If you checked that box, it will be the same as your password, but if you did not check the box, it should have asked for root’s password.

Ok !
Sorry, i missed that !

Thanks

I’ve installed 11.0 at least three times and each time it has asked me for a root password after it asks for the user name and password. If I remember right the default root password is blank (none) if you do not supply one.

Hope this helps.
