No output for PulseAudio monitor

Greetings All,

I am trying to get PulseAudio to output a monitor of what is being received on the
line-in jack of the sound device (Motherboard).

I was able to do this back when I was running v42 of SUSE just by issuing the command:
pactl load-module module-loopback

However, in v15.1, there appears to be no signal on the ‘monitor’ control,
regardless of the setting of the level adjustment.

I’ve tried adjusting and clicking just about every control in the PAVUCONTROL panel, without any
success. There is obviously some additional magic that needs to be done that seems to
be hidden to mere mortals…

Sound from the usual apps (VLC/Audacity/etc) work fine.

I am running SUSE v15.1 on an ASUS X370 MB with an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU.

Thanx for any assistance.

Richard Rosa

Here is the output of pactl list: https://susepaste.org/31382174

I don’t have a definitive answer (or experience with doing this) here, but I did find this Ubuntu thread which might be of relevance…

The suggestion there was to explicitly set the source and sink in the pactl command, or use pavucontrol to examine/set the appropriate
stream and sink…

…launch pavucontrol, go to the Recording tab, change Show: Applications to Show: All streams. Now you can see from where the loopback module is recording, change it to the source from which your piano sound is coming. Then go to the Playback tab, and do similiarily and change the output of the loopback module to the sound sink where you would like to hear your piano.
