No outgoing messages, but can be pinged from outside

Hello,

I have not seen this before and would like some advice please.
On a wired connection only, my Leap 15.0 laptop can’t ping or send any messages out (no response, 100% packet loss).
At the same time the other machine (Leap 15.1) can ping my laptop without difficulty, but can’t ssh to it.
The strange thing is that I did not actively change any setting, and up to now I was able to connect my laptop of the local network without difficulty.

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks,

Abe

Try

sudo netconfig -f update

On the second machine: Is the sshd service running? Firewall port opened?

Thanks for the help.
Although sudo netconfig -f update did not change the situation, I discovered that the network manager was managing connections - it used to be managed by wicked and I did not change this setting myself. When I changed back to wicked I could once again access other machines. So problem solved.

Anyone else knowing the root password?

Nobody else has access to the laptop and no one knows the root password but me.
This is troubling.
