Hello. Just installed Open Suse 11.3 on my dual-boot PC ( and Ubuntu 10.10). Installation process of both OS goes well and smooth. But, unfortunately when I tried to play movies on both default applications (Banshee and Totem) in Open Suse Gnome 11.3, I’ve got the message to search for XVID MPEG-4 decoder. And till now, I still unable to search for it, because there’s still no sound or a little sound on both players. Tried several solutions in this forum, but I’m sensing, that I’m in a really great mess. The more I applied the solutions, the deep I went for trouble. Hope that someone could point me (as a really2 noob) to the right direction. An advance thanks for any replies.
Here install the Gnome Codecs through here:

After you go through the suggestions made by alexdbars, here is something else you should look at.

Thank You,
Thanks alexdbars for the link and for jdmcdaniel3 for the tips and so sorry for this late reply. I’ve been down without Internet connection for the past 2 days. Anyway, I’ve solved the sound problem. Turn out, I didn’t configure the sound card properly. After increasing the volume in the sound configuration, I got the sound back.I assume it was just a cause of misunderstood and stupidity of my part. I should read all the relevant documentation before starting Open Suse on my PC, so I could avoid all these problems in the first place. So, thanks to both of you for the efforts. I really appreciate it.
