No network interfaces message, but wireless is working!

I just installed suse 12.1 on a dell inspiron 1501 laptop. i had to use ndiswrapper to install the wireless card firmware. 1390 wlan. although the wireless is working, down in the right-hand bottom of my screen is a red box with white cross that says no network interfaces. id really like to correct this problem but not sure how. diffinately a noob but i have done this a few times before. the only thing i can think of is that the ssb driver is still listed as (alternate driver) when i type ndiswrapper -l into terminal. but i have been unsuceesful in finding how to remove the ssb driver. Can anyone shed some light on this for me. I want to start using Suse full time. This is my only problem at the moment. thanks

That icon usually means that you are using ifup to control the interfaces, but
that the plasmoid applet is running. You can switch to using NetworkManager, or
you can remove the applet from the taskbar.
