Hi all, have a problen in that I cannot make any connection to the net, wired or wireless since the last update. Have had to go back to 4.18 as nvidia drivers not available either. Problem is even when going back something has stopped me creating any connection. Im using tumbleweed with kde. Network adaptor is a BCM4360 802.11ac. Would be grateful for any help in sorting this.
Was ‘zypper dup’ used?
Yes , thats the only way I ever update.
OK, so that’s not the issue. Can you rollback to a previous btrfs snapshot?
I don’t think I can, have booted into 4.18.15.1 tumbleweed 20181112, unsure how to do anything else I’m afraid, its always worked perfectly before.
Network adaptor is a BCM4360 802.11ac.
Start with Kernel 4.19 and post:
zypper se -si broadcom kernel
You mean you don’t use btrfs voor your root filesystem?
If so, you still can install ( using a wired connection or nmcli ) ‘tumbleweed-cli’. After doing that you can use
sudo tumbleweed --help
and go back to a previous tumbleweed release.
Apologies for vanishing, the tablet I am having to use died and I could’nt get back to the forum. I cant run or post anything from my Linux box as I have no connection at all, wired or wireless, it was all lost after the update.
Have you tried Knurpht’s advice yet?
Open a terminal and run the following command to get network hardware/driver details…
/sbin/lspci -nnk|grep -iA3 net
This will let us see if network device nodes present…
ip a
Take a photo if convenient, and post the image. (Make sure it’s clear enough for us to view).
Just a general question here.
You are presumably using either “wicked” or “NetworkManager” to control your network connections.
Have you tried switching to the alternative choice to what you are using?
