No more OS/2 network access replacing 15.5 with 15.6

Monday I got 15.6 installed on my main box, but I didn’t boot into GUI until just over an hour ago, and now I cannot reach my OS/2 box on the LAN:

# mount //hostname/J
mount error(22): Invalid argument
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs) and kernel log messages (dmesg)
# dmesg | tail
[ 175.637596] CIFS: VFS: bad security option: lanman
[ 175.641380] bad security option: lanman

I don’t see anything covering this in https://doc.opensuse.org/release-notes/x86_64/openSUSE/Leap/15.6/. man mount.cifs no longer lists lanman as a sec= option. I tried both ntlm and none as fstab options instead of lanman, but each produces error 22 as well. Anyone know a solution, preferably one that involves no messing with setup on OS/2? This seems like a pretty big feature loss for a minor upgrade if there isn’t one.

ntlm and lanman support already got removed 2021 from kernel.

OS/2 ?! Ouch!! I used it, but waaay too long ago.
Latest release 4.52 / December 2001; 23 years ago.

Funny though, we still have our 2001 Jeep Wrangler

Good luck!
