No login

Dear all, first of all I’m sorry for my english.:shame:
I’m very little experienced on linux.I have installed Opensuse 11.1 last night on my notebook ACER ASPIRE 6530G, AMD Turion X2, 16’'HD, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570, 4 Gb DDR2.The installation seems okay but graphical login does not work,it says “access failed” both as user and as root.
Instead using login text (shell) there’s no problem,so I’m thinking it’s a video (ATI card) problem.I don’t know how to do.Video Card seems have no support or specific drivers.Thank you for your attention.

to configure the graphic card just run

sax2 in your root console.

should help.

Try this, it may work for you:

Pause the boot by moving the down arrow, then back up to the default boot. But now press backspace, it should delete any text where you can see: vga=0x…
Remove all text and now type just the number:
and hit enter
at the login type your user name and then password
now type:
then the root password
now type this:
sax2 -r -m 0=vesa
(N.B. the 0 is a zero not a letter)
now reboot: type: reboot
if you don’t get a gui login
login as user at cli and try this at the cli

Thank you!Now I can get login as root, not as user. But I’ll try to create a new user as root and see if it works. Then next step is to install correct video drivers.

I’m not sure if that video card has drivers
Look here to see if they list one: Graphics Drivers & Software
