I have a weird situation. After installing openSUSE 11.2 on a machine it has no response to the keyboard and mouse. I then installed Mandriva 2010 on the machine and the keyboard and mouse work.
Any ideas how to get 11.2 on this machine with a working mouse and keyboard?
PS2 via a IOgear 4 port KVM switch standard PS2. Hooking a PS2 keyboard and mouse up direct didn’t give me any inupt device either. The test case was putting Mandriva on there after the failure with 11.2 and having it work without ant juju. Mandriva has always had really goods detection. It what I ran until last year.
Mouse and Keyboard detection was fine during the beginning of the install when I needed to use the mouse and keyboard. SIS chipsets are pretty bad anyhow.
When I reinstalled (from the Mandriva test install) I kept the KVM’s focus on the machine in question. Keyboard and mouse are detected. Must have need to see them during the automatic configuration before the first boot.
I rebooted the system after all the “updates” and all was good.
The updater had a fit and I had to kill it and do them from YAST2 manually.
I’ve seen this happen before and the problem was in some file in .kde4 that was misconfigured. Moving .kde4 to .kde4.old, e.g. solved it but you lose your settings. Don’t remember the file now, but deleting it solved it too. If in need I can find it, got it written down… somewhere.
Just in case it happens again.
Not trying to “leach the thread” but I am having similar problems with my laptop (hp Pavilion dv7-1245dx). Once I get to the KDE desktop, I have about 30-60 seconds, and my touchpad and keyboard do not work. I have to hard boot.
I never had this problem with 11.1, and I just upgraded to 11.2. Any suggestions would be helpful.
would the above “sax2 -r” help for this? I am not familiar with that command.
