No internet with 12.1

Should probably be easy, but I can’t find the solution up till now. After clean install of 12.1 no wired or wireless connection can be made anymore. Since Suse 10.1 never any update problem but now it won’t work. Got networkmanager working (wasn’t working be default) but now I’m stuck. Networkmanager says there is a connection but can’t go on the internet. How can I diagnose this problem and fix it?

I’m relatively new at this, so I’m not sure how much my help will lend to this.

I had to first, unplug and reconnect my usb wireless on my desktop, but then after I signed into Yast, under the networking devices, I could see the wireless card. Once I got to this point, I used Yast to switch from the “traditional ifup” to controlled by network manager. Then I added the network manager applet to my kde config and was able to connect. I definitely recommend checking out the wireless forum if you’re still having problems.

Thanks for your response but I’m still stuck. Got some data with an other computer (I’m still without internet!) which might be helpful;

Please post computer text in code tags so that we can read it properly.
Advanced editor, #.

You have obfuscated the IP number, but so much so that we can not even
check your setup. You have to be careful with that, and replace one set of
numbers with an obfuscated address, but then another set of numbers with a
different obfuscation. The wifi and the eth can not have the same IP, and
in your message they have.

Post your /etc/resolv.conf
Betting it’s DNS because ping worked.

Thanks for replying; This could be the problem. I get this;

l*inux-bnxh:~ # /etc/resolv.conf
bash: /etc/resolv.conf: Toegang geweigerd
linux-bnxh:~ #
*
And in a text editor the file is empty. I just don’t understand?!

Idea?! Could I copy the text from this file from my laptop (is running Suse 11.4, KDE)?

@bsilvereagle
Couldnot wait…tried…and…IT WORKED, I’m quite happy now, thanks!

Nice Job.
Whenever you can ping, but can’t do web browsing, always check your DNS. I can almost guarantee it will happen again.
