From time to time I have problems connecting through the Networkmanager, therefore I want to be able to use in addition another application. When trying to use kinternet or wifi-radar, I have no problems connecting to the wifi network, however, the internet is not working.
In have changed yast’s network settings to Tradional Method with ifup.
iwconfig gives the following output:
wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:“vieniba8”
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated
Tx-Power=27 dBm
Retry min limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2352 B
Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
I have a Lenovo 3000v100 laptop with a Intel 3945ABG wifi card.
1 ) ipv6 is off
2 ) check firewall settings
3 ) browser is not set to "off-line "
4 ) no typo’s in the encryption key
5 ) encryption matches that of the router
When playing around I can occasionally connect through wifi-radar but only when I do the following:
Restart the computer
Start wifi-radar (at this stage I can’t yet connect to the internet though the connection is established)
Edit my Wireless Network connection in Yast (I don’t have to change anything)
Click Connect in wifi-radar
Does this make any sense?
For kinternet nothing I have tried worked. When clicking on Check Connection there are two error messages: Default Route
Cannot read /proc/net/route. Resource temporarily unavailable
Name Server
On one occasion the error was: no name server found in /etc/resolv.conf
Later it was: address lookup does not work
The entry in resolv.conf is
nameserver 0.0.0.0
nameserver 0.0.0.0
