Hi,
First some pre info.
My first contact with Linux was today installed Linux Opensuse 11.1.3
During install the system already notified it could not get a internet connection.
I decided i would fix that later.
My Broadcom Wireless Netwerkcard in the Compaq Pressario C500.
Has been noticed, and according to the hardware list the drives are active.
My network icon shows up as not working.
It cannot find any networks there.
My network is based of 1 D-Link Router 1 desktop pc 2 laptops.
One of those laptops is now this Linux test machine.
My other pc’s do have an Internet connection trough this router, as did this laptop.
Under Linux i cant get it to work yet.
I tried most basic stuff, add a network, type in the SSID name, go to security tell it the passcode.
Even tried to do the whole manual ip stuff.
Either i got those wrong, or i dont get Linux.
Or maybe i missed something!
Hi Caf4926,
Hope this info helps.
This is a direct copy past of the commands u wanted me to enter.
Have the laptop connected now trough wired so that works its just the wireless that gives me a headach.

With the last command he also gave some negative feedback and then just refreshed reposetory’s i think.
After reboot wireless isnt working yet.

I am new to linux. Credentials are I hate windows and have some old equipment that seems to respond better to linux. Using open Suse 11.3 on a Compaq Persario c500. Can’t get the results from your walk thru herein. Can not scan for wifi. Using dlink wireless but nothing. Suggestions would be appreciated.
and read the three stickies at the top of that forum…you probably
will get it all done that way (with patience and reading/learning), if
not search through recent posts in THAT forum (see advanced search
page)…and start your own thread there for any unresolved wireless
problems…
