Hi all!!! I have just done a new install of the latest opensuse 32bit and for some reason I cannot connect to the internet, when I click on mange connections the vpn tag is highlighted and all the other tabs are grayed out and I cannot select them. So I can’t setup a internet connection wired or wireless. I was just using Kubuntu and did not have this problem.
My card is broadcom.

Here is an even larger wrinkle
I have no Internet connection but
I am connected to my wireless, have an IP, am able to see the network.
I tried setting Firefox proxy settings to auto and to none, i dont use proxy.
I am currently posting this through an SSH connection to my 11.1 server from the new install of 11.4.
I first tried an upgrade had no Internet so i re-loaded from scratch on clean partitions.
I am running out of ideas anyone go a clue.

HINT: when Larry Finger asks you (X-dog) for information, do NOT
ignore him…he IS the one here with the most knowledge about how to
help you…
reinstall is NOT required and is probably a waste of time and
electricity…(this is not that SO last century operating system which
was so successful at accidentally fixing itself every time you
reinstalled it!!! especially if you paid another $300 to upgrade to
the SuperDuper Professional Ultimate edition)
if you do not understand Mr. Finger’s question, ask nicely and he
might explain…

I did reply and that was the out come. Its fine now tho as a guy in the KDE forum helped me sort it. IFup was selected and I needed to switch sillly me thanks for all the help. Could someone link me a guide to setting up cairo please???
unfortunately i am back again. When i search for Cairo i only get development tools and i am doing exams in college so i don’t have the time to read all that link you gave me. Any help would be appreciated. When I used Kubuntu I had to download .deb files what should i be looking for with opensuse
I have a similar problem with 11.4 but only in case of resume from hibernation or suspend.
(Am entering it here as it fits the thread heading and I figure some much more knowledgeable folks are posting already here!)
**
After resume I can ping external sites successfully with my network managed by either Network Manager or alternatively Traditional ifup. **
**However applications like browser and email etc cannot connect to external servers after resume. **Previous versions using ifup I was able to re-establish connection manually but now with 11.4 this can’t be done.
If anyone can help me find a solution I would be most grateful.
Also any tips on how I would go about completing the bug report forms properly for this
My uninformed guess is that there may be a conflict between networking and the new upgraded Gnome. In which case would this be entered as a gnome bug or a network bug?
I am back again now the Laptop will not connect wireless and it is telling me to turn on knetworkmanager manually??? O what the hell just when I was starting to us it in College an all.
