No Internet Access since going from 11.2 to 11.3

I have used the CD to install 11.3 32bit version KDE. I can’t boot from dvd.
Previously I had 11.2 KDE installed. Since installation I have been unable to connect to the internet with Firefox or log in to the update servers.
I have a single PC - AMD Athlon 1GHz hard wired to a Dlink 302G DSL modem. I run a Static setup.
My motherboard also allows for USB networking - but I have disabled this in YAST with “Never”.
I am able to ping the WAN address of my ISP.
IPV6 has been disabled. My firewall is set with eth0 internal, dsl0 external and “any” external.
In YAST when I attempt to select Networked workstation it reverts to Custom.
There appear to be many more settings in 11.3 compared to 11.2.
Please help as I’ve spent hours on this.
And is there a help page or checklist to set up the internet?

jmgrabiecau;
Can you ping google.com via IP ?

ping -c3 209.85.225.104

If yes then most likely you are having problems with DNS.
In any case can you post the results of these three commands

/sbin/ifconfig -a
/sbin/route -n
cat /etc/resolv.conf

This Howto might be of help to you.

Firstly many thanks to venzkep - I have now connected OK.

Before I made any changes I was able to ping google.com

The Howto from swerdna indicated that for the Static configuration I needed to check
Assign Hostname to Loopback IP
and Use Default Policy
