No Installation Program when selecting Install from Main Menu

Hi,

I am trying to install OpenSUSE on a Oracle 6000 Blade from a virtual CD-ROM using the ISO image. When accesing the ISO, the application starts to run, I get the boot page, from the Main Menu when I select the Install option, I do not get the Installation Program, instead a Kernel application starts to download and then nothing.

Do you know how can I solve this?

Thanks/Regards

Hi, welcome

To get a better picture of what’s going wrong, please provide us with a screenshot, or a photo of the messages you’re seeing.

Hi Thanks,

Here are the sequence of events, do not how to upload snapshots to URL.

Once I select the Install option, the program stars loading the Linux Kernel, when finished then runs some commands and the last thing seen on the screen is:

>>> openSUSE 12.3 installation program v4.1.5 (c) 1996-2012 SUSE Linux Products
GmbH
Starting udev ok

but nothing happens then… I don´t see the Welcome page to continue the installation

Any help…

What is your video card?

try pressing f3 and select noKMS

Most of the time it is a video problem.

Also check that you got a good download ie check the checksums of the iso

That was the problem, now I get the Welcome page, the license agreement but my keyboard is not responding to select options on the screen, what can be now?

Thanks for you soon reply.

Going through a KVM switch??

Nop, my laptop is connected to the switch where the Blade chassis is connected too.

I am using the ILOM remote console terminal to run the openSUSE and have the Keyboard and Mouse selected. I can change the Display Mode, but once the Installation program starts, then my keyboard and mouse works no more.

Well that is a little complicated. I suspect the Installer does not know how to set that up.

Any chance to do a direct connect of a keyboard for the install?

You may try a text install since it goes through a more classic terminal

I know that an install can be done via serial port terminal.

I tried the plain text terminal but I saw nothing. Black screen… Any usb mouse and keyboard can work?

should. The install is simply not understanding your odd setup

I connected an external keyboard and mouse to the USB ports and now it worked. Thanks Gogalthorp!!

Really appreciate your help, I am new into this.

Regards

once you have it installed it should be easier to setup other configurations of input and output
