Hello,
unless I am mistaken, Leap 16.0 does not offer “imagewriter” nor “impression” in its package repositories. Could we expect this packages to appear later in the repositories or should we look for “new” packages?

Thanks!
The answer is quite disappointing: “We ship cp and dd”
@thibdb13 dd if=<some_openSUSE_image>.iso bs=4M of=/dev/sdN iflag=fullblock oflag=direct status=progress; sync that works on any OS incl windows…
I know dd can do the job, it’s only I like Imagewriter and it is an easy tool for newcomers.
I have been using “dd_rescue” which is still available in Leap 16.
If you use Flatpaks, Impression can be installed there.
Well, the first response at bugzilla is not an “answer” but a Reply (and | or opinion), and it hasn’t been Resolved. And yea, it’s odd that ImageWriter is not included in Leap 16 (very odd indeed).
I understand tools like ImageWriter are convenient … I’ve been using “dd” for so many years (personal opinion, of course) … it’s a reliable and long-standing option, and easy to execute.
It needs to be ported to QT6…
Packages do not appear by themselves. Someone needs to do the actual work.
imagewriter is available for Factory (i.e. Tumbleweed) and was available for Leap 15 via backports. Try submitting it to Leap 16.
