Dears,
I installed KDE 4.2.2 recently. I notice that there is no icon in system tray, even when applications (klipper, kopete, ktorrent, amarok) are running.
what should i do ? is there any way to downgrade KDE 4.2.2 to 4.2.1?

Hi,
Do you have the system tray widget enabled? How did you update to kde 4.2?
Ian
Logout, login via konsole and remove plasmarc and plasma-appletrc from /home/YOURUSERNAME/.kde4/share/config
Then login again to see a fresh standard desktop, with systemtray filled with icons. All other application settings remain.
did this, it is NOT fixed!
i see the borders of the systemtray, also some boxes, see it here:

what should i try next? i’m still thinking of going back to 4.2.1 .
From this thread;
KDE 4.2 Update Feb 5th - Caution - openSUSE Forums
Please note! This is total speculation on my part, and may not help at all… I can’t imagine it doing any harm though.
it was not successful
Tried everything … didn’t work !
but no avail !! could somebody help me please?!
Create a new user account in YaST. Log in using that user to see if the problem persists - at least then you’ll know if the problem is systemic or in your configuration.
i created a new user and logged in with that. as expected, the problem persists, so it is systemic. what to do next?
Could you give output of
zypper lr -u
That will give a list of the repo’s you have enabled, KDE 4 repo’s can be checked to verify that you have the correct ones, after seeing the output of that cmd.

I feel your pain
Possible lead? Don’t know what they’re talking about - maybe ask in the thread?
yes … as you pointed out, it was related to wrong Qt lib. now it is fixed by updating the libqt4 to 4.4.3
Good to note you got it fixed.
For KDE 4.2.2 (and running a stable KDE 4.2.2 (111) with Qt 4.5) on openSUSE 11.1, I have the following repo’s enabled -
Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.1[/FONT]
Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Extra-Apps/openSUSE_11.1
Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Community/openSUSE_11.1_KDE4_Factory_Desktop
For Qt, I have -
Index of /repositories/KDE:/Qt
Since you have a working Qt, you need not add/enable the Qt repository (I have disabled it after installing a stable Qt 4.5).
For your repo’s you should (IMO) -
For KDE 4.2.x, caf4926 is the expert on these forums- he generally tests out the Factory releases of the KDE 4.2.x releases first and posts back here (e.g. about KDE 4.2.2 - http://forums.opensuse.org/tech-news/411429-kde-4-2-2-due-release-april-1-2009-a.html).
PS:
In quoting repo’s check the “Disable Smilies in text” box.
