I tried to summon “help” for Gnucash but the KDE Help Centre pops up
with the message “no documentation found.” The documentation is
installed, as is Yelp. The same problem occurs in 12.2. Any ideas I can
try?

Sometimes I find that the help files needed for KDE are either not up to date or not made at all. Your best bet is to download the current docs from Gnucash.
Maybe the downloaded docs can be used or converted some how, that would be nice.
Yes, the problem is that yelp is not being used, even if it is installed and a request to /usr/bin/gnome-help -> is sent to susehelp instead of yelp which is also installed as /usr/bin/yelp. This problem may occur when only KDE is installed and you try to use gnucash help or when GNOME is installed along side KDE as I have. I can’t say about a GNOME install in which KDE was never installed. First, go into YaST and search for yelp and if not installed, you need to install it. Next, you need to rename the following file, open up terminal and execute these two commands:
I am uncertain if this presents any other problems, but the gnucash help will then work properly. This is a problem with the openSUSE install and dates back to version 10 it would seem.

Thanks, the fix has worked. I’d noticed that 12.2 had the problem but
am surprised it dates back to version 10; I thought I’d used Gnucash
help more recently. Mind you, time passes more quickly as you get older
though not as quickly as new Firefox versions come and go.
I’ll raise a bug for this - as soon as Bugzilla wakes up.
