hi
i done a fresh install today from
openSUSE-Tumbleweed-DVD-x86_64-Snapshot20201030-Media.iso
i used ext4 instead of btrfs, suse created me 3 partitions
/desda1 boot partition of 8meg
/dev/sda2 root
/dev/sda3 swap
Install completed correctly. I closed computed
When i restarted computer, I did not seen any grub menu.
With the usb key suse installer, i was able to boot on my hd…
don’t know if if this bug **https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1178278 **could be the same then the one i have?
thanks
thanks
That 8M partition is probably the bios_boot partition (or bios_grub).
If you installed to boot from the MBR, then I don’t think that bug is supposed to happen – though I could be wrong.
If you set it to boot from a partition, then it is likely you would have that bug.
In any case, the fix for this bug should be there soon. So keep using the USB installer for booting until that fix shows up.

just changeg btrfs to ext4… suse have done all the rest… will wait, don’t want to reinstall
That sounds reasonable.
I also have a broken system with this bug, but an alternative way to boot. So I’m waiting for the fix to show up.
tried grub2-install /dev/sda
same issue…
The grub2 fix has not yet shown up. So lets wait for that and see if it solves the problem.
new install with every default… no grub… seem like major issue
You have GRUB installed in MBR of your hard disk and configuration looks sane.
If you mean “boot from hard disk” option, it does nothing more than load MBR from disk and execute it. Which confirms that GRUB is correctly installed.
You say “I did not seen any grub menu”. What do you see when you start your computer? It looks more like BIOS (configuration) issue so far.
