Is there no Graphical User Interface?
How do I keep the screen on or go back to the GUI?
Im trying the JeOS and I might need to try some other one in order to get the GUI to stay.
Once I choose to load the jeOS, it loads the console screen and shows the loading of drivers and etc. It then shows something like
“have fun”
tgr?>
ending with this command prompt in a console screen.
Am I supposed to know how to use this mode right out of the gate? I don’t think so.
You’re kidding, right? JeOS means Just Enough Operating System - I doubt that they would include something elaborate as - say - a Window Manager…?

openSUSE also has an JeOS version.
Just take a look at this blog post. openSUSE gets the JeOS.
And if you use SuseStudio there’s also a JeOS template.

Wait a minute! What is this lizards.opensuse.org thing? I’ve never heard of that before? It looks like a good site.
OK I don’t see why people seek criticism or to belittle the person right away instead of teaching.
Hopefully going forward people who post replies will think of helping before being harsh.
It’s sad that people feel more joy out of belittling someone then to help them.
As for the person who welcomed me to the forum, thanks.
I now will look towards the recommended sites for help or maybe a different forum. I guess I thought wrong on how this forum could direct me to the section I need to be looking at.
Any sections from this site’s forum that would also help?

You made a chose to install a minimum OS.In Linux that means NO GUI. If you had read the description I’m sure you would have discovered the fact.
You don’t need a GUI to run a server it just eats up resources better used for what the server is for.
OK, I did not see where it said it did not come with a GUI.
There are many tools and programs available to make a server or vpn.
I am interested in a GUI operating system like linux but I want to make it my way.
What option should I choose to build an operating system with a GUI not a server?

If you want a desktop system
1)you could just install from here
Choose the desktop KDE or Gnome both or something else. I recommend
2)You could also just install the KDE or gnome patterns from your current install using yast from the command line.
But I really recommend you option 1) unless you really know what you are doing. Also it is important that you read ALL the instructions. And check your hardware to be sure it can handle it. There is a min hardware spec on or linked to that page.
If you have problem just post your questions here.
The reason you got jumped on is that you did not try to understand what you were installing.
If you’re looking to step into the world of building your “own” OS, my advice is to either 1) install openSUSE (or whatever distro) and tweak KDE, GNOME, XFCE, you-name-it to fit your needs or 2) really build your own, but in that case, you will have to do MUCH more research on your own and grow, as we say here in North America a “thicker skin”; if you think we’re harsh here, you have no idea what’s coming your way if you step into that hacker world. They cut heads off in those forums and newgroups. It took me all of 2 seconds to Google JeOS and realize that it’s an OS without a “GUI”.

Sure I could have read more, but talking to people is the fastest way to learn, especially when trying to learn something so complex and new.
I just wish everyone would take your patience as an example of “great help”. Ill be sure to read all the info from the page I desire to learn.
Now with your fast advice I know what that page is and it didn’t take me hours to find because of your help.
