No connection to internet

When I boot, eth0 connects to my router. This is evidenced by the computer being assigned the correct IP address I have setup for DHCP from the router. My /etc/resolv.conf also points to 192.168.1.1 (the router IP). However I have no connection to the internet.

I thought this may be the problem. However after applying the patch and rebooting the problem persists.

This is with 11.2, KDE and KNetworkManager. I tried to setup the conenction via YaST but it tells me NetworkManager is handling things. Ideally I would actually prefer to handle the connection via YaST and not NetworkManager.

I did a chroot into the OS11.2 system and was able to run zypper dup. On reboot I was able to connect to the internet.

I would still like to remove NetworkManager and manage the internet connections via YaST however.

Then switch to the traditional “ifup” method using YaST.

Open YaST, select “Network Devices” => “Network Settings”. Ignore the
warning. Under the Global tab, choose ifup.

Thanks for that

Hi,
This seems to be addressed in another thread.

Take a look at:

Hope this helps,
