I noticed that when I installed opensuse 12.1 kde it has no close and minimize buttons and it becomes too tough for me to switch between windows. Please help. Thanks

one of three things:
- you need to switch to a different windows theme… try this first as it
is the least painful and easy to do…
or - try turning off desktop effects…if that solves it then you can try
to turn the effects back on but use the set up to disable a lot of them
until you find which combo will all some effects and the
close/minimize buttons
or - you have a video driver problem, go here: http://tinyurl.com/37v9y7m

How can I turn off desktop effects Thanks for your reply
ALT-SHIFT-F12 should toggle them off or on. Then to into personal-settings, look for the “Desktop Effects” settings to default them to off.
I turn them off here. On an older work machine, they cause serious problems with screen readability. On my other systems, I haven’t notice problems, but I’m not an eye candy type of person.
Hi Momom90909; It sounds to me like you may be a new user so a little more explanation may be in order. The KDE desktop settings are configured in “Start > Configure Desktop > Workspace Appearance/Deskto Effects”. Those two locations set configuration for almost everything related to the desktop looks with the exception of application appearance where the overal style/colors are selected.

Thanks everyone. My problem is solved and now works right
Was it the desktop effects?
