No Brightness Graphic

Hi, I’ve been running OpenSUSE 13.1 KDE for a couple days now (switched from Ubuntu 13.10) and I’ve notice that the FN Brightness Keys work but do not show the graphic overlay with percentage that the FN Audio Keys do. Furthermore, when I plug in or unplug my computer the brightness is adjusted and the percentage graphic displayed with accompanying indicator sound. Also, when I’m on battery and click the Battery Monitor tray icon and move the Display Brightness slider the percentage graphic displays as normal. So then only the FN Brightness Keys fail to display the graphic, though they do Succeed in altering the display brightness. One more thing to note, when the FN Brightness keys are used the increments of increase/decrease are miniscule to the point where it only seems effective to hold down the plus or minus keys to attain desired brightness whilst the Battery Monitor Display Brightness Slider seems to be in increments of 10%. Also, how might I make the KDE Battery Monitor persistent such that it remains visible even when on AC Power?
