No automatic login for this site ?

Why is it that eye cannot login automatically on this website ?

It is always a 2 or three click process.

Andy

It occurs both in Linux and Windows.

The forum and login are separate, if you notice, there is a redirect for the login.

See this thread: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/other-forums/forums-feedback/forums-comments-suggestions/489205-login-autofill-not-working.html

I still did not identify my problematic firefox extension but you might.

Like Caf4926 says, we don’t use the forums login, but a single sign-on provided by Attachmate / SUSE, who provide us with their infrastructure. For you it may be 2 clicks to many, but for a lot of this means we can have the same login in many places. Also, we don’t depend on VBulletin re. login and security, amongst which better protection of your credentials.

Yep, that’s how it’s designed. Others have answered why.

If you have questions about the forums, please first read the FAQ, and if
you still have questions, please ask in the forums information forum or
the forums feedback form, rather than forums dedicated to questions about
openSUSE itself.

Thanks Jim I will try to do that from now on.

I have some short term memory problems at times.

Thanks.

My dad always said that memory was the second thing to go.

Maybe just make a note to yourself that it’s important to ask yourself if
a question is in the right place before submitting it.

You must be a perfectionist.

I paid some big bucks for help with mine.

Made some progress.

I still could not wash just half of my car.

I try to remember when I’m in a forum staffed by volunteers that the onus
is on me to ask my questions in the proper place. Comes from a lot of
time spent in online support forums - on both sides of the discussion.

If I want help from someone, I try not to make it difficult for them to
help me. I try to provide all the necessary information about the
problem and try to avoid making guesses about the problem (or at least
make it clear that I’m making guesses, but only after I’ve provided the
information they need).

But I do try to make my best effort at everything I do - and it has
served me well through my life (professionally and personally). I think
making an effort is important, yes - and you’ll find that volunteers
helping out appreciate people making the effort.
