I am running opensuse 11.1 with KDE 4.1. I added the Packman and Videolan repositories (for 11.1) and downloaded the VLC player using Yast. I am able to get DVD video to work, but not audio through the VLC player. There is no audio problem when using Amarok, Flash, etc. I have a M-audio Audiophile 2496 card. Any ieas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
There is a reasonable possibility that you have encountered an incompatibility between Packman packaged codecs/players with videolan packaged codecs/players. Since packman tend to have more applications for multimedia than videolan, I typically recommend users install ONLY libdvdcss2 from videolan, then remove the videolan repository, and install all codecs and player from Packman only. NOT from videolan.
