[0x71ff08] main interface error: option x11-display does not exist
[0x1737948] vmem video output error: Invalid lock or unlock callbacks

[0x7f2a8c03d3e8] main decoder error: failed to create video output

any idea?

Assuming you followed this
Multi-media and Restricted Format Installation Guide - openSUSE Forums

You could try switching the Video output pref to X11

or
try removing the vlc folder in ~/.config

If it gives you too much trouble I would say install SMplayer, its a great front end to Mplayer and its my primary video player

I take it you are not running the X server.
I would have thought you need to use the GUI with vlc.

in kde 4.3.4, i started konsole to see the error, so i get the error i specified yesterday…

@caf4926 i erased the folder, i get the same error and the video start with asci art

the problem was only vlc-qt and vlc-noX was installed… i don’t installed vlc because the description was not clear and seem not needed…

It won’t usually let you do that, not quite sure how you managed it.

i used yast to install it

But you are OK now - yes?

ya work fine now

Good news. Take it easy!
