NNTPGrab!

I have a question.

I want to download from newsgroups and dont like G
SABgrab. Now I cameup with NNTPGrab! but I dont see a download for Open Suse 11.4.
What do I have to do? And are there other good newsreaders (like Newsleecher but then for OpenSuse).

Also I would like to know if the format Opensuse uses can handle files bigger then 4GB like the NTFS system under Widows. I ask this cause I use files bigger then this sometimes up to 45/50GB.

Thanks!

I also would like to know if there is a 64bit linux version and if not the x86 works with Opensuse 11.4 X64 (if yes does al x86 software of which isn’t a x64 version works with the x64 version. I ask this cause I need the x64 to use my 8GB ddr). Thanks again!

define “good” in terms i understand… Newsleecher i never heard of…

thunderbird works perfect, for me…i’ve use Sylpheed, Pan, Knode and
others…all have their strong and weak points…

others user like different clients, there are long lists of options
available…

one list here: http://forums.opensuse.org/faq.php?faq=novfor#faq_nntp

another: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Usenet_newsreaders

if you want to shop by abilities, see this cite:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Usenet_newsreaders

and, by the way, all those marked as open source are for openSUSE,
they just may not be in our repos, or may only be found pre-packaged
for some openSUSE version though the search engine at
http://software.opensuse.org/search

oh, and there was a question very much like yours some months back,
see if you can find it…i don’t remember what s/he selected but i
think began by asking for Grabber or Leecher or something like that…

might try searching, kinda like:
http://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Aopensuse.org+"newsleecher"+OR+"nntpgrab"

generally, all 32 bit open source software will run fine in a 64 bit
openSUSE system if correctly installed…

And what about the NNTPGrab! for Open Suse 11.4? Is there one or can I use the one for 11.3?

i’m running 11.3 and i don’t find an NNTPGrab! for 11.3, where/how did
you get yours?

if you have the openSUSE install rpm for 11.3 you could backup your
system and try installing it with YaST…it might work, or not.

News reader or news downloader? I use fetchnews (leafnode-1.11.8-1.x86_64),
compiled from source (11.2). It downloads news groups for off-line reading
by any local (or local network) reader, and later sends all pending posts
on request.
