nntp access probs

Why can I no longer login with knode??

It is saying that my e-mail adress is not valid, it was working fine earlier today and then all of a sudden it has stopped.

This is on 13.2 all the latest updates.

I have not changed a things otherwise.

Have I missed something?

Hi
Sounds like a configuration issue? I’m using claws-mail.

Does knode provide a log of events? Maybe start from the commandline
and see if any additional output?

Hi Malcom.

I am trying this from another machine with 13.1, just to see, this lappy has
not changed or been booted for ages…

Too late now though if it goes through then it is probably something wrong
on my 13.2 machine, don`t know how though as it was working fine earlier
today

I must be getting senile in my dotage, it appears that when signing up for
some other news servers I accidentally changed my “identity” profile,
leading to every one of the groups to use it.

This led to the opensuse server bumping me out with a “Wrong E-mail” error.

Not really. See my “From” address used with this post.
It is Pan which is overjealous.

Hey, Mark - the server doesn’t really care about the e-mail address, so
it must be something with knode that’s causing the issue…

knode refuses an address that doesn’t look an email address, but it
doesn’t really verify it is valid. I tried this afternoon: “not_really”
was rejected, but “not_really@not_really” was not. By knode, not by the
opensuse server, because as you people may remember, I use a leafnode
local “server”, which I control

Looking further into it it was not the actual E-mail addy that was causing
the problem the error message about the address was a red herring.

It was my “Identity” that had changed, I fixed it by telling Knode to use a
specified ID for these groups and all is well again, I think

Sorry for gumming up the thread, mea culpa.

Nope.

The opensuse nntp server doesn’t care at all what your stated identity
is. Your own knode does.

Look again at my previous post: I set my identity to
“not_really@not_really”, which is obviously faked.
