NIKON CAPTURE

apparently nikon capture is a great programme for manipulating/correcting photos ??
anyone tell me if its possible to use this via the wine emulation?,

Hello diamond1902,

I don’t use Nikon Capture.
But when you want to know if a program is working under wine the first thing to do is taking a look in the Wine application database.
When looking at the Nikon Capture page you can see that not all versions are working well.

The best way to know if it works, is to try it yourself.
But the AppDB gives you an idea.

Best of Luck!

It appears to req1uire working quicktime in wine, which has been spotty as well.

I am not convinced that nikon capture is any better than gimp with the ufraw plugin This combination seems to work quite well with both CANON & NIKON raw files and the raw files are much better for editing than jpeg.

The support for the raw file format is provided via dcraw. This is compiled into ufraw. The release cycles of dcraw, ufraw and opensuse do not match so there tends to be a delay in the support for new cameras that have a different file format. Dcraw is the most up to date and I think it may be used in programs such as nikon capture
