NFS server off = unable to boot

Hallo,
I have opensuse 12.2 and I am mounting NFS shares from my server.
When the server (or part of network between the server and the 12.2 computer) is down, booting hungs up* and it wouldn’t continue until is possible to mount the NFS shares.

*Hungs up = it keeps showing green boot screen + If I press esc, it seems it’s printing all boot messages over and over again (with about 1 sec pause between those prints)

I want to be able boot without the server running. What should I do? How/Where can I set it up?

You can either configure background mounting (add “bg” to mount options for your NFS share) or use automount. With the former mount will continue to try in background if server is not immediately available. With the latter mount will be attempted on demand, when you access directory, and not during boot. I am not sure whether YaST has module for automunting … has to check when I have access to my system again.

It’s unbelievebly simple and it works. Thank you.
(others distros probably have it in defaults)
