Hi!
I’m rebuilding some of my home IT-resources after finally got fiber broadband in to my house. Like some other people I’m maybe a little paranoid. I don’t like to store anything in the I-cloud that is my work/private/personal propriety and I cant control the access to it.
-Leap15.2, nextcloud and letsencrypt for using https:// I have a paid subscription with dyndns (yes I know oracle) and I think I can register up to 30 sub-domains to that one.
Standard (in a VM, virtualbox(yes I know oracle)) Leap15.2 and Nextcloud from openSUSE’s repos. My main domain is “example.com”. After have obtained certificates for example.com, working fine with the address “example.com/nextcloud” using the certificate of example.com.
But lets play a little and what seems to be more common. Put a new alias(cname) to dyndns for “cloud.example.com” and created a certificate for that address. Then created a “cloud.example.com” .conf file in apache2/v.host.d/ and it works a-ok.
Does it exist any guidelines how to do this in a “proper way”. Should one be happy with the same webpage("my (next)cloud)) that can be accessed and shown by 2 different web-addresses and 2 different certificates?
Yes I’m a newbie in this area.
Greetings
