I am very new to Linux, so please bear with me.
I have just built myself a custom PC for work and it’s fairly high spec, SATA II Drives, Intel Q9550, 8Gb / 1Tb etc etc.
The PC has a Zotac GeForce 9400 GT Nvidia based video card installed.
I installed the latest OpenSuse with no issues, and once into Gnome I ran the YaST installer to get the correct video card drivers installed and 3d acceleration enabled so that I could use compix fusion etc.
The installer was fine and said the drivers were installed OK, I rebooted the PC and the card still shows as the framebuffer card as per the original install.
One strange thing that has happened since this installation is that Firefox now no longer loads, the spinning disk fires up, the HD gets access but no firefox. The cursor returns to normal after about 10 secs…
I then tried to install the drivers from the NVidia site using the “Hard Way”, that is strangely quite simple, again I installed GCC, Make and the Kernel-Source.
This installation also completed sucessfully, but still I have the framebuffer card and no firefox…
Anyone help me here, before I go insane…
