Newbie video problem

Hi,

I normal watch tv catchup on the internet in windows, now i have switched to opensuse the playback is slow and choppy.
Please Help??

Thanks

You did not mention the openSUSE version or Desktop that you use. Any exact help depends on what you are using. So, You need to start reading here:

http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/how-faq-forums/new-user-how-faq-read-only/407184-multi-media-restricted-format-installation-guide.html

I normally add in the** Packman** Repository you can find here: Additional package repositories - openSUSE and update my multimedia as suggested in the above message. Then, you can verify your setup based on a script I wrote you can find here:

MMCHECK - Version 2.41 - Check Your Multimedia in 16 Steps - Bash Script File - Blogs - openSUSE Forums

And, if you have any more questions after you have read the guide and checked your setup, just let us know.

Thank You,

Without knowing much about your setup I would suggest loading the vendor video drivers for whatever card that you have…they are available through yast for both nvidia and ATI. That has resolved many issues for me in the past.
