Newbie: Security Update issue

Hi, folks.

Just a quick issue. I’ve been using openSUSE for months now without issue, but today when I logged on I received a “New software is available” message, so I selected it, was alerted to 5 security updates available, so I select OK. It prompts me for my (root) password, which I supply. The frame goes away and the alert for “New software available” reappears with same 5 security updates. I simply cannot install them through the update alert.

Tips for manual installs and a way to get this automated again would be much appreciated.

If that doesn’t work you could try ‘Online update’ in YaST. Or perhaps replace ‘up’ with ‘dup’ in the above - but to be honest, the first should work. If it complains about stuff being locked by a process, type “kill [process number]”, wait a few moments, and try again.
