I’m used to using C++ in Windows but I’ve been told to use openSUSE to open a file that I named whelp.cpp.
It says I open it using ./whelp but I cant seem to find where I need to enter this…
I’ve never used any sort of Linux build to open a file so could I get a walkthrough please?
You don’t open text files with ./whelp, but you can run an application
named ./whelp if you compiled it on the box. So, to view a file:
cat ./whelp.cpp
less ./whelp.cpp
vi ./whelp.cpp #editor, not just viewing like the previous two
To run:
…/whelp
If you get a permission denied error make it executable first:
chmod +x ./whelp
…/whelp
Good luck.
