YaST sometimes has scripting troubles. Would you be willing to try this from the commandline? I’ve done it a time or two on a laptop I’ve since passed to my son. We’ll need to know what wifi device you are using, and whether it seems SUSE recognizes the chipset and has a driver already. There are numerous webpages on the Net on how to do all this from the commandline in Linux.

It crashes because it needs the updates.Network manager has a slight problem from a fresh install without updates. If you have a wired connection, run the updater, then sort out wireless. Also, have a look at the stickies in the wireless section, some good info there

ok guys my wifi card is a d link model WDA-1320 i hope that helps

Atheros chipset, according to Google. That’s covered by the Madwifi project: Atheros madwifi - openSUSE

I couldn’t get madwifi to work so I installed ndiswrapper. Plus I had double the trouble because I have a wireless pci card installed and am running an 64 bit desktop computer. Windows comes with an extra driver for 64bit wifi cards. It is called bcmwl564.sys that you have to install after you install ndiswrapper with modprobe from the terminal. Search in the sections opensuse wiki, and opensuse support and they both have detailed install procedures on how to uninstall the current drivers and the proper install the ndiswrapper and drivers you need. I wish that opensuse came with ndiswrapper like mandriva does cause it is kind of a pain to install.
If you can’t find them, let me know and I will post the detailed instructions I printed out. Hope this helps.

opensuse does come with ndiswrapper,at least,it’s on the install dvd & in the repo’s,probably not the livecd as they are limited for space
