Antivirus, forget it, not needed. Other things I have no idea what they
are. Skype, download from them the linux version.

Then the first thing you need is solve that. Post details in the wireless
forum. Read the stickies first.

in the future always put only one problem into each thread you start,
and put a subject that relates to the problem of that thread…

and, always tell both what version of openSUSE and what Desktop
Environment you installed (like KDE, Gnome, Xfce, LXDE, etc etc)

take your time, READ before you just “try something” most everything is
done differently here, and in many cases trying to force openSUSE to do
it the old fashioned way (last century Windows way) will just break your
openSUSE!

forget antivirus, you don’t need it to protect your openSUSE…

follow the instructions here for Skype: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Skype

ccleaner and malwavebytes?? never heard of them what do they do?

to solve wireless problems read the three stickies at the top of the
wireless forums…they will either help you solve your problems or tell
you what info you need to post to the wireless forum to get help…

if you don’t understand the instructions you may need to read some more
on what the new to you words mean…here are good places to read and
learn:

http://doc.opensuse.org/products/opensuse/openSUSE/opensuse-startup/

http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/how-faq-forums/new-user-how-faq-read-only/424611-new-users-opensuse-pre-install-general-please-read.html

take your time, move slowly and deliberately otherwise you will break
your openSUSE faster than you can fix it…

Just forget about this two (ccleaner and malwarebytes), they make no sense
on any linux or unix system at all. For deleting your browse history (seems
to be a feature of the ccleaner) just configure your browser accordingly.

Forget about CCleaner and malwarebytes. They are only needed to overcome
problems with Microsoft products (as with anti-virus).

This page
HCL:Network (Wireless) - openSUSE
Say use Compat Wireless Drivers to improve performance
But that info might be out of date going by the SUSE version quoted

Compat wireless is in this repo
Index of /repositories/driver:/wireless/openSUSE_11.4

But I would wait for advice from @lwfinger ( a wireless expert here) before doing anything

For what is “your favorite software”. A lot of the software you previously used in Windows will be completely futile in Linux. The skype.rpm (as it is closed source proprietary software) can be downloaded at Download Skype for Linux
for apparently all 11.x versions. Be aware that it is beta software (by the indication of skype). In linux you have very good VOIP software you may have a look at instead of skype. But if the system has no confidential data and if you are not afraid of closed source software, this solves the aspect of skype. You may have to install via yast the correct videocamera driver before installing skype.
As said, you do not need to use antivirus software, registry cleaning software ecc. You have an excellent K3b software for burning CDs and DVDs and for preparing backup copies of your media.
The office application of choice will be libreoffice. You can install easily google earth, but there is also a valid “marble” opensource equivalent with interesting features. Google Chrome is also available. Firefox is extremely well supported and for email you have the choice between kmail, thunderbird and evolution.
You may want to stick mainly to the repositories of openSUSE. It is generally safer to uses software from particular sites only when they are really trustworthy and if you are absolutely not finding the necessary software in the repos.
Opera can be be found in the NOSS repo of openSUSE.
For the time being, as long as the wlan driver is still “under work in progress”, use the ethernet cable and have the system completely updated, now that it is installed.
Try not to join supplemental repos before the system is not really finished and stable to make it easier to find out about the origin of problems.
Once it is all stable, you might have a look at this page and also at this other on restricted formats.
Have fun.

favpanda, if you want something similar to ccleaner, you can try installing
bleachbit, but I suggest to take caution before using it (better not to have
root privileges when running it). Good luck with openSUSE!

No Signature this time…
