Newbie help ~ Warcraft

Hi all,

I installed and unintalled Wine originally from the software add-on
(Yast) and I deleted away the WarcraftIII folder cos I do it wrongly.

I found some guide and read Wine forum but still couldn;t understand
how it works.

can some one teach me?

There are too many patch/version of wine and i don;t know which is the
correct one.

In the community repositories is a Wine repository. Enable that and then
install via the software manager. You will have the latest Wine.

If you are installing some software with Wine the default installation
patch is

Code:

C:\Program Files\

This means that the program will be installed to

Code:

/home/<userName>/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/

Wine need to detect your drive. In konsole type:

Code:

winecfg

Here select the Drives tab. Hit the add button and select the patch for
your DVD drive.

Take your Warcraft III CD into the drive. Check that it is mounted (you
can browse the content of the CD in a filemanager). Go again to winecfg
Driver tab, and hit the Autodetect button.
Try to start Warcraft now.

ps.: the same thing can happen if you are using some copy of the
original Warcraft III CD >:)

Or get yourself a copy of the no-CD patched exe file so you don’t need
the original CD after installation.

All no-CD patches are for Windows. Patch your Warcraft to the right
version, and then patch it with no-CD.
Good luck.

ps.: I’m also played it with no-CD patch.

Found this:
‘Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne No-CD Patches & Game Fixes-
GameBurnWorld’ (http://tinyurl.com/ermcn).
Do not search on WineHQ for the fix. This depends just on your Warcraft
III installation.

The link here points to ‘Blizzard Support’
(http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=21222). It matches
with your link above.
So, you downloaded the right patch if it is 1.22a, the language is
matching with the games language and if it’s a windows version.
You don’t need the nocd patch.
Try to start the game from konsole with -opengl option:

Code:

wine war3.exe -opengl

Good luck.

Both links are pointing to blizzard’s support site, to the same patch.
Use one of them.
I have no idea how to remove the previously installed patch :\ - google
for it.
In World of Warcraft by removing Wow.exe the repair program Repair.exe
restores your version to the previous. Maybe it has some equivalent in
Warcraft III.
Good gaming!

ps.: I’m used Alt+F2 to minimize  Don’t know how to fix Alt+TAB.
