Hi all,
I’m upgrading (New hardware) my TVHeandend server tomorrow. Previously it was running on Ubuntu 16.04 but I find OpenSuse much more interesting and nice than Ubuntu. So I want to change distro. Anyway - the tvheadend server uses a couple of USB dvb-c tuners (PCTV tripleStick 292e) witch is not currently supported in the Ubuntu Linux kernel. So I assume that they aren’t supported in OpenSuse either (It’s the same Kernel right?? - Remember I’m a newbee in Linux ;). ) The trick In Ubuntu was to install something called LINUX-NONFREE-FIRMWARE and then download a couple of .fw files and put them in the /lib/firmware directory. And everything worked. Is it possible to do the same thing in Opensuse? Can’t find the LINUX-NONFREE-FIRMWARE package though. And can I use the same *.fw files from Ubuntu and put it in /lib/firmware in opensuse?
Last thing - in order to get the best opensuse distro for tvheadend server project. Should I install tumbleweed or leap. Both distros have unstable packages of tvheadend that can be downloaded. I can’t figure out which distro to use.
In advance - Thank you very much
