I call this a broken design.
Before you have a Folder and click next to the folder and it will not copy into that folder, but the current.
Behavior now, you pull next to a file name or a directory and it automatically opens the file or copies in to the folder.
Dolphon is unusable now for drag an drop in split view.
I just had 5 tries to drop to the folder I aimed for.
How to revert to original behavior, that only uses drag into folder, for the name column and not size/date/type?

What version of Dolphin are you using? I’m using Dolphin Version 20.04.2 with
Operating System: openSUSE Leap 15.3
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.76.0
Qt Version: 5.12.7
Kernel Version: 5.3.18-150300.59.63-default
and Dolphin drag-and-drop in split view works perfectly, as always.
In Dolphin–>Settings–>Configure Dolphin–>Navigation, make sure “Open folders during drag operations” is not checked.

I hate to bump older threads, but since this thread was mentioned in the bug report referenced in the merge request, I feel it’s appropriate.
There is currently a merge request discussing adding an option to disable full row highlighting, which would correct the issue the OP is having.
