New Tumbleweed Install w/o WLAN Need Root Login to run hwinfo

This is my first openSUSE Tumbleweed install, and from my user login, running the Console for command line w/switches, I am getting errors I many need root rights. But I do not see how I can login as root.

I installed this to learn more about SUSE 15 SP7 and installed this on an old Dell laptop that I had, it uses an old Broadcom chipset for Wi-Fi and I want to run hwinfo --wlan --short to get the chipset to find a BCM Linux driver or run NDISwrapper with an older Windows 7 Driver.

Thoughts?

Hi welcome,

For the Broadcom you’ll most likely need broadcom-wl from the Packman repo.

Either su -then enter root password or sudo hwinfoand root password should work.
