new to suse

hi, im new to open suse, just finished installing 12.3 kde and now updating as im writing this post, but is there some things i have to do after install, like a to do list after installing suse?
my second question is is there a printable manual for terminal commands? since im only used to apt-get on kubuntu, but moving away from anything ubuntu based.
my third question is can i upgrade from one release to the next without reinstalling from scrath?
thx

Mmm… if you mean CLI commands, there are many books, but I don’t know
which to recommend.

You might have a look at doc.opensuse.org, there are some online books.
You can download and print the PDF if you wish.

“zypper” would be the equivalent. Or YaST, a setup manager for
everything, including what zypper does, with menus.

First welcome to the openSUSE forum!

  1. Your First task would be a full update.

  2. Your next task is Multimedia Update.

A. For openSUSE 12.3 use: openSUSE 12.3 Multi-media and Restricted Format Installation Guide - Blogs - openSUSE Forums

B. For openSUSE 13.1 use: openSUSE 13.1 Multi-media and Restricted Format Installation Guide - Blogs - openSUSE Forums

  1. You can find these on the internet if you search: Bash Reference Manual
